Designed is a high-current pulse driver based on MOSFET to make integration with the laser diode, and the effects of current-limiting resistance on the performance of storage capacitor were calculated. The formulas for estimating the peak drive current and rise time of MOSFET were analyzed, and the effect of laser parasitic inductance on the waveform of the driving circuit was researched. Theoretical and simulation results show that the integration of the driving circuit and the laser diode can improve the performance of the pulse laser, based on which, a miniaturized driving circuit with a size of φ14mm was designed. Using this driving circuit to drive a laser diode chip under 27V DC, the signal rise time of under 15ns, the pulse width of 25~150ns, the max duty-cycle of 0.5%, and the output voltage of above 22V were obtained.
